PARTNERS

Orphans & Widows Association/Dareecha-e-Noor (OWA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to aiding the most disadvantaged women and orphaned children in Afghanistan. In 2010, HRF established a Learning Center at the OWA school in Kabul. This multi-purpose facility contains a library and computer lab. It provides a space for collaborative and individual study for underserved primary school-aged boys and girls learning English and basic computer skills. Building on the success of the Learning Center, OWA and HRF began a separate and even more ambitious project – the Homaira Rahman School, which was jointly operated and funded (costs evenly divided) by both organizations. Established in 2013 and located in Kabul’s Parwan 3 district until 2021, when it closed, the Homaira Rahman school made quality education accessible to 100 at-risk boys and girls in grades 1-6, helping to build a strong academic foundation for brighter futures.

The Children of War (TCOW) is a non-profit organization focused on education and empowerment in Afghanistan. HRF and TCOW frequently conduct joint fundraisers and coordinate emergency relief efforts in support of distressed communities impacted by natural disasters. To combat the persistent food insecurity in Afghanistan, HRF and TCOW have also operated bakeries together to feed impoverished settlements and organize yearly food distribution programs for the underprivileged across Afghanistan.
