our strategy

Our approach is premised on the belief that education is one of the key drivers of Afghanistan's social and economic development and will help provide a solid foundation for coming generations. Increased levels of literacy translate to larger economic output, higher employment levels, better health, and higher marks along numerous other development indicators. Enabling all of Afghanistan's children to learn, especially the most vulnerable and under-served, will have profound implications for Afghanistan's future. It's the surest way to accelerate social and economic change and to shrink the widening technological gap that exists between Afghanistan and the rest of the world.

Our approach

HRF begins the process with a rigorous research and analysis program that identifies areas in Afghanistan where assistance is needed the most.

The core of HRF’s strategy rests on the principle of direct grassroots engagement. We believe this is where the greatest good can be achieved. To facilitate this approach, we also recognize the need for a multifaceted methodology to:

  • Maintain constant dialogue with Afghan leaders at the local, provincial, and national level.
  • Demonstrate the value added of HRF’s work by encouraging official host-nation sponsorship.
  • Develop and Encourage participation, to the greatest extent possible, of Afghan citizens and to subsequently instill the value of self-empowerment.
  • Develop cooperative relationships with other benevolent organizations working in country.
  • Dialogue with the International Security and Assistance Force (ISAF) and their Provincial Reconstruction Teams (PRT)
